What is a Spiritual Reading?

I have had spiritual experiences since I was a little girl. The first one I remember was when I spent the night at my Aunt Alma’s house. I woke up in the middle of the night because of a bright light in the room. I opened my eyes to see a large white translucent figure standing there by the bed. This androgynous creature simply looked at me. Although I was surprised, I felt no fear. Although I never saw the angel again, I have often it’s presence with me.

Sometimes, when talking with a friend or relative, I’d see the image of someone over his or her shoulder. I might see someone trying to get their attention, or touch their shoulder. Sometimes they would say things to me and ask me to relate them to the other person. I’d try to bring this new information into the conversation. The results were typically, “Why did you ask that? How could you know about that?” I’d reply, “Just a guess” or “Just a thought I had”. I remember the friend who said to me, “You’re weird!”

In my mid-forties I was sitting in a restaurant with my friend, Deborah. I could see a man with a moustache in a black bowler hat and black suit standing behind her. He was not very tall and kept staring at me. I knew he was associated with her, but didn’t know if I should say anything to her. Finally, I heard him say to me, “Tell her”. Taking a deep breath I said, “Deborah, I know you’re going to think this is strange, but I have a certain kind of gift that allows me to see spirits, angels or family ancestors. There’s a gentleman standing behind you with a black suit, bowler hat and moustache. He’s not very tall. If I knew how to draw I would draw you a detailed picture of him. I think he might be a relative of yours. The look on her face was priceless. I figured she’d never want to have lunch with me again! Weeks later she called me up and invited me to lunch. She hesitantly asked, “Do you have any idea what that man wanted?” And so it began. It was the beginning of my spiritual coming out.

A little over a year ago I had my palm read by Madam Carolyn www.madamcarolyn.com. The big question on my mind was, “How do I keep all this in check?” She said to me, “Nancy, if you’ve ever had your eyes dilated you know how large your pupils get, and how blurry your vision becomes. Your third eye is the same way. If you leave it open too long your visionary gifts will get blurry. You need to have a safe place to open your third eye. In other situations, like large crowds, keep it closed.”

The space at Horvath-Zurn Consulting provides a safe place for me to open my third eye. When you come for a spiritual reading I will invite you to choose a stone from a box. As you hold it your energy will be absorbed by the porous rock. After a few minutes, when we both feel ready, I will ask you for your stone. As I take it into my hands I will begin to read your energy. I will tell you what I sense and feel about you and things in your life. I typically can share with you things of your past and present. I hesitate to tell the future unless I have the strong urge to do so. Instead, I tell you what I see in order to influence your thoughts and decisions about your future. I then look around you too see if there’s “anyone” with you. It may be someone who wishes to speak to you, or someone who is simply present watching over you. Sometimes I can assist you in recognizing your spirit guide(s) as well. When I sense the energy connection coming to an end, I return the stone to you and it’s yours to take home.

I can act as a medium between you and a specific person if you’d like. It is most helpful if you bring an item that belonged to the person. In addition, while I do not do past life regression, I’ve assisted with recognizing some past life issues and connections in this lifetime.

The fee for a one hour reading is $40.00. Part of this time is spent with the actual reading while another part is spent putting the information together. A spiritual reading is not an exact science! Here is an example: Some years back I had a strong visualization of a small boy with something spurting from a hole in his throat. I called my life-partner at work and asked, “Is your supervisor’s little boy ok?” I told her what I’d seen in my mind’s eye. She relayed this information to her supervisor who immediately called home. It turns out they had just rushed her little boy to the hospital because he was vomiting and they couldn’t get him to stop.”

Exact names and dates are the most difficult. I may know that a woman from the 1920’s or 1930’s is around you, and her name begins with an E….Eunice, Elizabeth…… I have also had times of hitting a name right on the button, and that is a powerful experience for everyone concerned!

Ghost Hunting 101: Have you noticed the increased interest in mediums, ghosts and psychics on television these days? Perhaps you’ve caught an episode or two of Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, or Paranormal State. This workshop will give you the basics of simple ghost hunting. I will show photographs and share experiences from various personal ghost hunts including, but not limited to, the notorious Mansfield Reformatory in Ohio, the Haunted Trolley Ride in Atchison, Kansas, a visit to the Myrtles Plantation in Louisiana, and an all night stay at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. This class is available through Rochester Community Education.

Curriculum Development

Photographic Reflections was developed and presented this month at Rochester Community Education.

Leadership 101 was developed and presented this month at Healing Spirit Metropolitan Community Church.

Reflections of Advent is the latest curriculum. This four week study will be presented at Healing Spirit Metropolitan Community Church on Sunday’s from 3:00pm – 5:00pm beginning November 30^th. It will feature the following four topics: Forgiveness, Empathy, Prayer, and Communication. There is no charge for this class. Call Nancy to register.

Metropolitan Community Churches are a forty-year denomination. www.mccchurch.org On their website, under Education and then Small Group Studies, you will find three of Nancy’s workshops. These can be downloaded free of charge and include a complete leader’s guide:

The Eight Essentials For a Healthy and Thriving Congregation is an eight session class designed for churches.

The Eight Essentials For a Healthy and Thriving Congregation; Developing a Strategy for Success is the sequel and provides the ground work for putting the Eight Essentials into action.

Putting a Little Character into Christmas was written to add some educational fun to the Advent Season. Again, it is relative to the Christian church.

Open Hearts, Open Doors; Opening the Doors to the Transgender Community Again, this course is relative to the Christian church and available for free download, complete with a detailed leader’s guide.
